Location: Westmead Children’s Hospital

Nicole Monks was commissioned to create an artwork installation for the Westmead precinct as a part of the Westmead Hospital redevelopment. The 16.5m long wall features a series of laser cut aluminium blades which have been laser cut to create a ripple – like effect in the artwork. A traditional Aboriginal spear features alongside 15 spotted gum timber fish swimming away from the centre as the spear strikes the water.

‘Mudiga’ celebrates the continuous connection of First Nations people to this land, the water and the skies. Aboriginal water stores hold Knowledge that has been passed down since time immemorial. The Burramattagal people of Dharug Country.

Luke Russell and Scott Luschwitz were commissioned to create a spear for the work.
